Rome is simply a one-of-a-kind destination. Once the center of Western civilization, and with a history spanning almost 3,000 years, Rome houses some of the world’s most-visited attractions. It also includes Vatican City, an independent country within Rome’s boundaries and the seat of the Pope, not to mention the home to the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel. Thanks to its unparalleled beauty, Rome repeatedly hosts international movie productions – more recently for “The House of Gucci,” the upcoming “Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning,” and Angelina Jolie’s “Without Blood.”
CIEE Rome occupies the main floor of the prestigious Palazzo Capizucchi and it is a short walk from some of the main landmarks of the city, such as the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps.
CIEE wants all our students to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed while studying abroad. Local CIEE staff have provided details about conditions and cultural attitudes that students with specific identities might encounter in Rome.

Housing & Meals
Housing
CIEE Rome offers diverse housing options, including shared apartments, residence halls, and homestays located in exciting residential areas. They are conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants, cafés, shops, and public transportation and within a maximum commute to CIEE Rome of 60-70 minutes.
Standard Housing: Includes a single or double room at a homestay, or a double or triple room at a shared apartment or at a residence hall, all located within a 60-70-minute commute of CIEE Rome.
- Homestays feature a kitchen, living room, and bathroom shared with a host family. Breakfast and dinner are included.
- Apartments boast kitchens, common areas, and access to laundry facilities shared with others. Meals are not included.
- Residence halls have kitchen access, shared laundry facilities, and common spaces. meals are not included.
Select Housing: Includes double and triple occupancy rooms in apartments or residence halls, within a 45-minute commute of CIEE Rome.
- Apartments boast kitchens, common areas, and access to laundry facilities shared with others. Meals are not included
- Residence halls have kitchen access, shared laundry facilities, and common spaces. meals are not included.
Select housing requires an additional fee.
A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive.

Homestays: Host families provide breakfast and dinner, and students are responsible for lunch.
Academics
The Business + Culture program invites business students to engage in Italian culture, improve their Italian skills, and earn credit toward their degree with courses at CIEE Rome and CIEE’s partner institution, LUISS.
Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (LUISS) is an independent, international university that focuses on the following disciplines: Economics and Finance, Business and Management, Law, and Political Science. It is one of the top universities in Italy for the above disciplines and is ranked #22 in QS WUR Ranking.
Fall exams at LUISS may extend through the end of December, and Spring exams at LUISS may extend through the end of May. Students must remain on-location until all assessments are complete. Should a LUISS exam be scheduled after the program end date, CIEE will guarantee housing. As it is impossible to confirm your exam schedule prior to your arrival, please book an airline ticket with a low change fee or a flexible departure date.
Arizona State University: Enhance your international academic coursework with optional online courses that best align with your degree requirements and interests. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 7.5-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar, so you can study abroad with CIEE while continuing to meet all your academic goals.
