A Visit to Antoni Gaudí's "La Pedrera"
Students recently had the extraordinary opportunity to tour an architectural masterpiece. La Pedrera, also known as Casa Milà, is one of the most famous buildings designed by renowned Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí. La Pedrera stands out for its billowy stone facade and twisting wrought-iron balconies and windows. Inside, the students wandered through the apartment museum, marveling at the organic forms, colorful tiles, and intricate details that characterize Gaudí's work. As they walked through the apartment, Gaudí himself guided students on their audio tour, explaining what each room in the apartment was used for and why he made the stylistic choices that he did!
One of the highlights of La Pedrera is its rooftop terrace, which is adorned with fantastical chimney stacks and ventilation towers, often compared to soldiers or medieval knights. This rooftop offers stunning views of Barcelona and showcases Gaudí's creative genius and flair for the surreal.
