A Trip to Greifswald
The Berlin Language & Culture Session 2 group took some time this weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle of Berlin city life to travel to the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The group visited the town of Greifswald situated on the Baltic Sea. With a population of almost 60,000 people, Greifswald is much smaller than Berlin.
Upon arriving in Greifswald, the group took a tour of the city center given by a seasoned guide who was able to tell students about the history of the city that dates back to the 12th century. We enjoyed the charming Swedish architecture, crisp air, and beautiful sights of the harbor--and maybe a Kugel or two of creamy German ice cream. After, students sat down outside for dinner at one of two restaurants to enjoy the nice weather.
At the youth hostel, the group congregated on the playground to watch the sunset.
The next day, the group pulled out their sunscreen and bathing suits and spent the afternoon on the beach at the Baltic Sea; We couldn't have asked for more sunshine! Now that we're back in Berlin, stay tuned for more adventures this week!
