Sachsenhausen Memorial Visit
On Wednesday, students of the Language and Culture program visited the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Students were very interested in learning about the history of the camp and how it came to be. We had two tour guides, that are historians by trade, that were able to explain things in a way that students could understand and be engaged. Many of our students were not afraid to ask in depth questions to get a better understanding of what happened here. It is a somber experience but students were really reflective after the tour. Program Leaders followed up with the students and found that all they were happy to have this impactful experience. Many will be able to return home with a personal story that they can share within and outside of their classrooms.
