Nothing to Lose in Toulouse!
On Sunday, the High School Study Abroad Global Navigator Program welcomed 62 students from across the United States to “la ville rose”. These adventurous students will be spending four weeks in the beautiful “pink city” of Toulouse studying French language and culture through a combination of classroom learning, practicing their language skills with locals and host families, and going on daily excusions, a day trip, and an overnight trip. These students have the rare opportunity to build new relationships with kids their ages from around the US, as well as with their teachers, Program Leaders, CIEE staff, and host families.
Students spent Monday meeting their cohort and getting orientated to the daily schedule and the lay of the city center. Tuesday, they will dive into French class and their first community conversations, and by Wednesday, they will be learning how to play the classic French game of “pétanque”.
As they recover from jet lag and become accustomed to their newfound independence, our experience tells us that these students will blink and their four weeks in France will suddenly be coming to an end. We are excited to welcome them and support them in this life-changing experience, where they have nothing to lose, and much to gain, in Toulouse!
