Guachos and Tango
This weekend was jam packed and full of excitement: literally! After a great visit with a local high school on Friday, students left city life and ventured out to experience country life.
We arrived at the Mimosa estancia ranch and were greeted by "guachos" (Argentinean cowboys) and served empanadas. We then explored the ranch fill of various animals and wildlife. Students had the opportunity to take a horse carriage ride and ride a horse. Lunch followed with a typical Argentinean "asado" "a la parilla" style. Students watched beautiful folklore dances and even had the opportunity to participate in the festivities showing off their moves.
On Saturday students learned first hand that it really takes two to tango. Professors from a local dance studio came to the center to teach about the history, music, and dance that defines Argentinean culture. By the end of the class these kids all looked like professionals!
