Global Entrepreneurship

As we make our way to the half way point of this three-week program, the students are hard at work on their business proposal. They have had lessons on entrepreneurship and gotten to ask questions of people who were in their shoes some years ago and now run thriving businesses. This week they’ll develop their business plan in preparation of their big presentations at the end of the program.

In addition to their hard work, we’ve also had a ton of fun. Especially over the weekend.

On Saturday, we experienced Singapore’s National Day a bit early by strolling down the Marina and watching the military’s rehearsal for their big event on August 9th. The pre-celebration ended with a lovely display of fireworks.

Sunday morning, we went on a treetop adventure! We all participated in an obstacle course up in the trees. It was a lot harder than it looked – thankfully, we were held up by harnesses. We even got to zipline over a reservoir! We were all tired and sweaty after gliding among the trees.

But the day wasn’t over yet! We spent the afternoon at the Gardens by the Bay Flower Dome and Cloud Forest where we got to see the Impressions of Monet exhibition, characterized by a replica of Monet’s remarkable gardens.  We also indulged in plants from all over the world including the endemic species that live only in endangered cloud forests and the unique orchids of Cambodia.

We ended the weekend with a light show: Borealis, an art installation that combines layers of light and clouds imitating the Northern Lights.

Needless to say, everyone was tired on Monday so we took the morning to rest and recuperate for the week ahead. First thing on the schedule: Universal Studios Singapore!
