1936 Olympic Stadium
Eighty three years ago, the world took notice of the city of Berlin as they hosted the Olympic Summer Games. We were lucky enough to visit this historic site, which is now used for soccer games, concerts, events and many other things.
We learned all about the history of the stadium, including information about the Third Reich. We sat in the seats where the Chancelor of Germany, Angela Merkel, sits when she attends World Cup or Champions League games! Students were also able to learn about our own American history all the way in Berlin - Jesse Owens took home FOUR gold medals in 1936 right here in Berlin.
Students were able to learn more about what life was like in Berlin when Adolf Hitler was the Chancelor of Germany and his goals for the Berlin Olympic Games. With the sun shining down on us, it was a perfect day to take in the stadium, learn its history and visit a new area of Berlin.
