Say hello to Milan, the second-largest city in Italy and the country’s unofficial fashion capital. Home to some of Italy’s major fashion brands, a booming wine industry, one of the oldest shopping centers in the world (the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II), and a thriving international student community, there is plenty to experience and explore in the cosmopolitan city of Milan.
When you study abroad in Milan, you call the Lombardy region of northern Italy home. Here, you’ll have every opportunity to indulge in one of the canal-side cafés or restaurants in the Navigli District, explore the Sforzesco Castle to discover the city’s history, and much more while immersing yourself in the local culture.
CIEE wants all our students to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed while studying abroad. Local CIEE staff have provided details about conditions and cultural attitudes that students with specific identities might encounter in Milan.

Housing & Meals
Housing
CIEE Milan offers diverse housing options to ensure you're comfortable in your home away from home. From shared apartments to residence halls, we will strive to meet your accommodation preferences. All housing has direct access to plenty of shopping, supermarkets, restaurants, and public transportation.
Standard Housing: Includes a double room in an apartment or residence hall. Apartments and residence halls feature furnished double rooms, access to a kitchen and shared common spaces, and are located under 50 minutes from the CIEE center.
Select Housing: Includes a limited number of single rooms in an apartment or residence hall. Both apartments and residence halls feature furnished single rooms, access to a shared kitchen and common spaces, and are located under 50 minutes from the CIEE center. Select housing requires an additional fee.
Select Plus Housing: Includes a limited number of single rooms in an apartment or residence hall. Both apartments and residence halls feature furnished single rooms, access to a shared kitchen and common spaces, and are under 30 minutes from the CIEE center. Select Plus housing requires an additional fee.
A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive.

Academics
This summer program is designed for students interested in studying fashion, retail, and innovation in an international context through course work and related local co-curricular activities.
Students will take one course at the CIEE Milan study center; the course will be taught by local faculty with teaching experience in an international context and a professional background in the fashion industry. These professionals will bring a unique blend of academic knowledge and practical expertise to their role.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via CIEE's School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.
Program Fees
CIEE offers the most student support of any provider in its program fee, including an airport greeting, full-time leadership and support, orientation, cultural activities, local excursions, pre-departure advising, and CIEE iNext travel protection with benefits.

Students are responsible and manage costs related to travel, meals, books, and personal expenses. Below are estimates for consideration.

CIEE offers the most grants and scholarships of any study abroad organization, including $8 million/year in travel grants, merit-based scholarships, institutional and MSI grants, and Gilman Go Global Grants.
