Yucatecan Art: Painting Class
Last week, our students had the opportunity to learn from local Maya artists how to paint hats. This is a practice some local communities have adopted to support their economies.
During the class, the students painted a leaf design with gold details. And of course, we have great artists! So they added their own style to the design.
This was a fun activity since the students got to explore their creative skills, but also very practical given that hats are very useful to protect us from the strong sun rays in Yucatan. Now, our students will be fashionably protected.
