On our third weekend of the program, the students and PLs got up bright and early Saturday morning and headed to the southwest part of the "département" Finistère.

Finistère = Fin de la terre= end of the land/earth, meaning that this département (what we could relate as counties within states of the US) is at the most western end of France.

The first town we visited was Pont-Aven.  Known for its beautiful riverside walks and picturesque landscapes that were painted by Paul Gaugin.

After Pont-Aven, we headed to Quimper.  Quimper is the administrative capital of the Finistère department and it is seen as the cultural heart of Brittany.  The town sits upon the joining of two rivers and is home to the Cathédrale Saint-Corentin, which is a very large gothic-style building built in the 15th century.

The students got to enjoy and guided tour of Quimper and even catch part of the World Cup match against Argentina while we were in Quimper.

After a busy day and a very busy week, the students finally got some down time once we arrived at our hostel in Concarneau.

We had such a lovely view of the ocean from our hostel, and the students were even able to swim in the Bretagne sea after dinner.

This weekend was a great bonding experience between all students and PLs. I think everyone truly enjoyed it!

We left Concarneau on Sunday morning and headed straight for Locranon.  We visited the small village and ate lunch at a quaint restaurant called "La Prieuré".

Our last visit of the weekend was a stop at Château de Trévarez, a 19th century built castle in the countryside of Finistère.

Students were able to explore the gardens, building, and fountains freely for an hour or so.
