Two worlds collide
Our daily objective to speak with more locals was met at Thursday’s intercambio de idiomas. Students visited a local colegio, or school, to meet Spanish teenagers and participate in a language exchange. CIEE students were only allowed to speak Spanish and the Spanish teenagers practiced their English.
Everyone was provided with materials to complete both ice breaker activities. The ice was truly broken when they had to ask each other about family pets, hobbies and favorite colors.
After an hour and a half of getting to know each other better, some students exchanged social media handles and others made plans to play basketball in the free time.
