Rugby à XIII Haka Hé!
In Toulouse, they take rugby seriously, so we needed to learn to play. Stade Toulouse the local rugby team just won the championship a week earlier, and Toulouse will be one of the host cities for the Rugby World Cup in September.
Rugby à XIII, or 13 player rugby, was the game we were going to learn. We had our own rugby lesson and workshop. We started by working in four stations to learn some of the basics of the sport. The students were having a great time, and the program leaders were having fun of their own. The students showed no mercy, and when one of the large boys knocked the wind out of me, I realized that maybe I'm getting too old to play rugby with teenagers.
We practiced blocking, footwork, and a few agility drills; then we were ready to play some games. We played four games and everyone had a good time! I think we have some new rugby fans.
