Kayaking in Constância
Situated in Constância, and marked by soaring eagles, herons, and lush green landscapes, is a life source known as the Tagus River.
Before hitting the water, the students received a comprehensive introduction to the river's ecosystem.
Their marine science educators, passionate about environmental conservation, took them through the river's biodiversity, the role of the Tagus in Portugal's natural heritage, and the importance of maintaining a healthy aquatic environment.
As they launched their kayaks, the river became their classroom. Here they explored various aquatic species, from fish to birds to the river's rich flora, gaining a deep appreciation for this unique ecosystem.
Witnessing the direct impact of human activities on the marine environment, and discussing the implications of a healthy river instilled a sense of responsibility and commitment to preserving natural habitats, energizing students for the cleanup initiatives in the week ahead.
