Hasta luego, Mérida!
Teachers, staff, program leaders, and students gathered for a final celebration before students began returning home, but not without a little drama. As was customary for this trip, an afternoon rainstorm passed through before the fiesta, but leaving us without electricity. Students were able to swim, eat snacks, and play many games with their friends. The power came back on just in time for our celebration dinner of burgers and fries! After dinner, people enjoyed the DJ while they swam and danced. After some favorite dances, students learned some line dances that are traditional to Mexican parties, including Payaso de Rodeo.
The party wrapped up with many hugs and promises to keep in touch. It was a bittersweet ending to our four weeks in the Yucatán.
