A Flair for Flamenco
This week the students learned how to dance flamenco, a traditional Spanish dance that incorporates hand-clapping, foot-stomping, and finger-snapping. The students loved learning the steps and dancing to a mix of traditional and modern flamenco songs, including ones by Peret and Rosalia. Elena, the dance instructor, taught everyone to use their facial expressions and body language to communicate the power of the flamenco dance, and everyone loved trying on her unlimited supply of flamenco costumes and albanicos (fans).
