Enjoying Food in Toulouse
All Toulouse language learners do a unit on food during their stay in France. According to their level of French, they learn food vocabulary, how to order at a restaurant, how to express food preferences and they talk about typical French food from different regions.
As part of the language learning activities related to the Food Unit, students do "Oz le Français" or structured activities where they use their French in the community. Over the last three weeks, all five groups of students have gone out to lunch with their program leader to discover local cuisine and use their French skills to order food, ask questions of the restaurant staff, pay for their meal and discuss food.
This week, we are excited to welcome CIEE's Advisory Council in Toulouse. We invited the experts to come out to lunch with the Level 2 students. The experts were very impressed with the way students ordered food, expressed preferences and exchanged information with local French servers and restaurant owners.
