'Bonjour'

–from Denver, Colorado! My name is Carson Timmons and I am a 16-year old boy who lives in the suburbs of Denver. In just over one day, I will be getting on a plane to France in order to particpate in the French Language Intensive program. First off, I would like to tell a bit about myself:

  1. I absolute LOVE to perform. For what feels like my whole life, I have been extremely involved in Acting, Singing, and Dancing. Combining all three, I like to perform musical theatre. I believe this unique medium is incredibly universal, and can make people feel and think about things that they couldn't otherwise.
  2. I am an athlete in Cross Country and Track and Field, and I have been a member of the Varsity Cross Country team during this last year. Our team at Rock Canyon High School represented the Jaguars well and were able to truly show how we can all unite under one goal.
  3. I love my Friends and Family, and I cherish the the unique bond we share with each other. Hopefully, I will develop relationships similar to this during my stay abroad.

During my stay in Rennes, I have a lot of goals: I want to improve my French-speaking ability; I want to meet new people; I want to earn college credit. However, none are more important than my goal to completely immerse myself and experience France's unique culture. It is my genuine belief that all people on this planet are more alike than we are different, and I think that this trip will help me learn a great deal about other cultures and my own.

As my trip rapidly approaches, the fact that I am actually going to France becomes more and more tangible. When I first applied for this program, it seemed so distant. I couldn't even fathom going to France and studying abroad. Now, I am simply filled to the brim with excitement and anticpation for what is to come.
