Coming Up Roses: End of Week One
The first week here in Barcelona is winding down and we're feeling grateful for being in this ciudad maraviollosa.
Our first full days in Barcelona pass in a vibrant, sun-kissed backdrop. The light lasts until about 10 and the sea brings a gentle breeze through the streets to alleviate the heat. Throughout the first week the students come into contact with Barcelona's historic elements that cross through centuries. In the meantime, the students interact with Spaniards in the street or in stores in our Community Conversations activities in order to give them another structured practice of their language. The students look inward on their own culture and ask questions that challenge their perceptions all while enjoying the hustle and bustle of Barcelona.
As the last school day comes to a close, the students all arrive with their bookbags and hand luggage in tow full of excitement for the upcoming weekend trip. This weekend we head to Roses (Rosas), a seaside town on the Costa Brava. During the weekend we will see Roman ruins, go kayaking, tour a Castle, and see the famous Dalí museum. ¡Qué emoción!
Look out for our next posts detailing the weekend festivities!
Hasta pronto.
