A boat tour on the Seine
Tuesday was a warm and sunny day--perfect for a visit of Paris by boat! Following a morning of language classes and a leisurely lunch break, we walked towards the Seine river and boarded a large boat for a guided visit of the historical center of Paris. Many students got to sit on the top deck, where most of these pictures were taken. The tour started and ended between Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre Museum. Over one hour, we got to see and learn about the Eiffel Tower, Orsay Museum, Ile de la Cité, Grand Palais, Hôtel des Invalides (which houses Napoleon’s tomb), and several other Parisian monuments. We also went under a dozen bridges, including the Pont Neuf (“New Bridge”), which is actually the oldest bridge in Paris. We'll get to learn more about Ile de la Cité, the historic birthplace of Paris, during a walking tour scheduled another day this week.
