¡Bienvenidos a Palma de Mallorca!
We are thrilled to share the excitement of our first two days in Palma de Mallorca as our high school students embark on their Marine Ecosystems and Sustainability program. Arriving on Sunday, July 7, the students were warmly welcomed to the island, where they will spend the next three weeks immersing themselves in Spanish culture and marine biology.
Monday marked the official start of the program with an orientation led by our dedicated CIEE staff. The orientation covered essential information about the program, safety guidelines, and cultural insights to help the students navigate their new environment. Our staff members, who are passionate about marine biology and education, also introduced the students to the exciting curriculum ahead, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm.
After the morning session, the group took their first trip to Playa Can Pere Antoni, a beautiful local beach. Under the warm Mediterranean sun, students had the opportunity to relax, bond, and begin exploring the marine life they will study in depth. The beach visit was not just about fun; it was an introduction to the rich biodiversity of Mallorca’s coastal ecosystems.
The first two days have been a mix of settling in, learning, and exploring. We are confident that this experience will be transformative for our students, broadening their horizons and deepening their appreciation for marine biology and Spanish culture. Stay tuned for more updates as our adventure continues!
