Bienvenidos a Barcelona!
Welcome everyone to the Barcelona Language & Culture program Session 2 for the 2022 year!! For the next month, there will be 7 of us Program Leaders working with the students, sharing day-to-day activities as well as keeping you all updated!
After everyone arrived at CIEE on Sunday, we had the afternoon off to acclimate to the time zone changes and begin exploring the city with their host families. On Monday the students, program leaders and center staff all met at a hotel right next to CIEE’s center where we went through orientation. We all discussed the “Do’s and Dont’s” of the city, broke down the activites that everyone will be participating in, as well as had the students take the language pledge that asks that they only speak in Spanish during the duration of their time here. Afterwards, all groups went on a walking tour to become acquainted with the neighborhood of L'Eixample around the school.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, groups went out to explore the Gothic Quarters of Barcelona as well as the Ciutadella Park. Home to narrow streets, trendy stores and popular Catalan restaurants, this neighbourhood is a favorite of all people who visit Barcelona as it has a very distinct charm. Afterwards, we jumped on over to the Ciutadella park where we got to take some amazing photos of the monumental waterfall as well as a giant mammoth that is randomly placed in the middle of one of the city's largest green spaces.
