Housing & Meals
Housing
CIEE Edinburgh offers comfortable housing in single rooms in central Edinburgh. Edinburgh has a robust public transport network – including trains, buses, and bike paths – and a welcoming community.
Standard Housing: Includes a single room in a shared apartment/residence hall or a limited number of single rooms in homestays.
- Shared Apartment/Residence Hall: Shared apartments and residence halls boast an ensuite bathroom, shared kitchen, and living area.
- Homestays: Homestays boast a kitchen, living room, and bathroom shared with a host family, but each student has an individual room, and three meals a day are provided. Students live with a family, with or without another CIEE student, and immerse themselves in the city’s culture. Host families are located across the city and it can be up to a 45-minute commute from CIEE Edinburgh and the university campus. Homestays are limited and will be allocated based on availability.
A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive. Non-standard housing options require an additional fee that can be found in the program Dates and Fees.
Meals
- Residence Hall/Apartment: Meals are not included.
- Homestays: Hosts provide two meals a day during the week.
