Your Destination
Paris is home to world-renowned landmarks, from the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe to the Sacre Coeur Basilica. France’s capital and largest city, Paris offers peaceful parks, lively nightlife, and innumerable cobblestoned neighborhoods to wander around.
Iconic stone Haussmann buildings line bustling boulevards and contrast with the impressive modern glass and steel structures in La Défense, Paris’ financial district. Open-air markets with fresh food and flowers are scattered around residential areas, and a bakery is never more than a short walk away.
CIEE wants all our students to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed while studying abroad. Local CIEE staff have provided details about conditions and cultural attitudes that students with specific identities might encounter in Paris.
The Culture
Excursions & Activities
Past cultural activities allowed students to:
- Participate in day trips to fascinating French locations such as Amboise, Reims, Rouen, Giverny, Chantilly, and Vaux-le-Vicomte
- Learn about cheesemaking from a local cheese monger and taste a variety of their products
- Test their skills as a nose at the Fragonard Perfume Museum and learn about the history of perfume making in southern France
- Take a stroll in the Montparnasse neighborhood, learning about the area’s influence on art and literature, and stop for a crêpe at the end of the visit
Internship
Past internship experiences include:
- Help grow and accessorize brands, which blends Parisian and Moroccan influences into high quality statement pieces. This brand celebrates craftsmanship, culture, and creativity, empowers women and challenges fast fashion trends. Interns contribute to business development mainly through marketing and sales, community building, SEO optimization, research, and direct contact with stakeholders.
- Gain hands-on experience in business development, operations, and startup culture while helping to revolutionize the HR industry. Work with a talented and diverse team of professionals who are passionate about driving innovation and making a positive impact in the world of HR tech by connecting employers and job seekers through innovative technology solutions. Interns play a crucial role in driving their business development initiatives and optimizing their operations to support our growth.
- Work for a dynamic tourism startup that offers a tool for people to discover, customize, and book niche travel plans for a community of like-minded people, influencers, and brands. Brands use the platform as an experiential marketing tool to engage with their target audiences and propose relevant services through “shoppable” itineraries. Interns assist in managing the editorial calendar, CRM, web, press, partnerships, and paid marketing. They may help create content per channel or assist in the go-to-market campaign and social media management. Interns get the chance to cooperate with travelers, influencers, and brands.
