Second-Hand Shopping in Amsterdam
By: Mia Ferrentino
One of the many things to love about Amsterdam is the shopping - in particular the thrifting and vintage shopping that the city has to offer. While the city center is the place to go for big department stores and chain brands, the second-hand shops are scattered all over the city.
Some of the most popular thrift stores with locations all over the city are Episode and Kilo Store. Both stores are chains and have similarly priced second-hand clothes. These stores definitely fall under the category of thrifting not vintage, but still have some great finds to offer. Both have a great selection of denim and leather jackets as well as slip dresses. I found a very unique great denim dress at Kilo Store with a bright red belt to go with it.
The best vintage stores I found were Marbles Vintage and We Are Vintage. Marbles has a few locations while I believe the latter only has one in the East. Both these stores tend to have older more classically considered vintage clothes while still maintaining reasonable prices. I bought a great pair of overalls and sunglasses at Marbles and got a cool cheetah print slip dress at We Are Vintage. These are my most highly recommended second-hand stores not only because of their selection but because of their reasonable prices. There are certainly other great vintage stores in Amsterdam, but they are often so expensive they fall out of the range of possibility for a student studying abroad.
One of my favorite parts of studying abroad in Amsterdam was exploring the pretty streets and stumbling upon great treasures such as the stores I just listed. I cannot recommend thrifting and second-hand shopping in Amsterdam more!
