Pere Lachaise Cemetery
Pere Lachaise Cemetery is the largest cemetery in the city of Paris. The 110 acres are located in the 20th arrondissement on the Boulevard de Menilmontant. King Louis XIV’s confessor, Father Francois de la Chaise d’Aix (commonly called le Pere la Chaise), resided there and the cemeteries name derives from him. The cemetery is renown for its tombs of celebrities and often considered the most visited cemetery in the world. Some of the notable figures buried at the cemetery are Frederic Chopin, Oscar Wilde, Edith Piaf, Jim Morrison, and Isadora Duncan.
