Floriesha's Program
Hi everyone :)
My name is Floriesha Bastien, a junior at Brandeis University double majoring in Sociology and Race, Media, and Communication. I am currently studying abroad in South Korea, attending Yonsei University as an exchange student under the CIEE Seoul 2023 Spring Term. I was born and raised in Somerville, MA. I am a daughter of immigrant parents, one from Haiti and the other from Belize. While attending Somerville High School, I grew an immense interest in race and activism around race. While being a student at Brandeis, I have continued my studies in race but have developed an interest in studying the role race and racism play within different forms of media and communication. I love to read, journal, go on walks, listen to music (like way~ too much), watch K-dramas, shop, and take pictures of the sky (yes... I am one of those people).
Through this blog, I hope to share my experience of being a Black woman, first generation , and low-income student attending Yonsei University. I am curating a digital archive of my experience studying abroad so feel free to check out my other social media platforms such as TikTok(@florieshaa), Instagram(@floriesha_), and YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@florieshab) to see my experience from a different perspective. If you have any questions or want to know more about my experience, feel free to contact me through my social media platforms.
Thanks for listening :)
