Alexa Stickel
Hometown: Miami

¡Hola! My name is Alexa (I know, I know... but I came first). I was born in Switzerland to a Mallorquina/American mother and Swiss father, but we moved to the United States soon after I was born, and they raised me and my younger brother in Miami, Florida.

I now live in the gorgeous cloud forests of Monteverde, Costa Rica - where I've been working as a freelance naturalist guide and field instructor for the past nine years. I'm an avid birdwatcher and all-around nature nerd, and I love latin dancing (ok who am I kidding- ANY kind of dancing). I am passionate about connecting with old and new friends, and immersing myself in new places to help me understand cultures that are different from my own.

I can't wait to experience, learn, and grow alongside students in Palma de Mallorca (the city where my mother grew up!) and in Gaborone, Botswana this year.

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”
