Highschool
Here we are, I'm so happy to be writing this article. After all, Highschool is 80% of our adventure, right?
I remember that at the beginning of this adventure, I couldn’t wait to sign up for all the possible and unimaginable clubs, sports, classes, I was so impatient. And then the big day arrived. I found myself all alone in a school I didn't know, with no friends. I remember thinking to myself, "God, how am I going to survive?” One piece of advice I'd give to anyone who wants to be or is an exchange student is to go out and talk to people, don't be afraid to trust yourself, if people don't pay attention to you the first few days, that's normal, they don't know you... make sure they do.
And then I went to the event that I think was decisive, the “senior sunrise”. I met so many people and what I didn’t know was that those people were going to be my friends ;)
I went to my first football game which was magic with all the cheerleaders, the chants, all I could dream about was true. I went to my first school dance, the homecoming, everything went so fast when I think back.
For my homecoming week, each day had a theme and we had to dress up depending on the theme. Monday was Coachella, Tuesday was film festival, Wednesday was country in the park, Thursday was carnival and Friday was wood spirit which is the school spirit. That was incredible !!!
I was able to join the backing club, the drama club, I joined the tennis team and I was in the fall play. I remember that just before I left, a former exchange student had told me that the best way to make friends was to do sports, to be in clubs, basically, to be busy, and today I can confirm that. And to tell the truth, it's even more than that: being busy is also the best way to avoid being homesick, but I'll come back to that in a later article.
And today, the football season is over, homecoming is over, and yet I still have so much to live for with my highschool ;)
