Wuxi (无锡) - Day 2!
Hanfu (汉服) refers to the traditional clothes worn by the Han ethnic people of China. In ancient times, hanfu was distinguished by social status, occupation, and occasions. Those in the upper classes wore intricately patterned ones of silk and other higher-quality fabrics. Those in the working class wore simple ones with fewer layers. Throughout different dynasties and periods, the style of hanfus have changed drastically, and we all got to wear a different one.
Dressed in our hanfus, we packed onto the bus in the morning for an hour's drive. Passing Lake Tai (太湖), one of the largest freshwater lakes in China, we arrived at Nianhua Bay (拈花湾). It is a modern Buddhist resort combining architectural styles from the Tang and Song dynasties.
Some of the main attractions include Half Mountain Holding the Sun (半月衔日), Xiangyue Flower Street (香月花街), and Nianhua Pagoda (拈花塔).
