Velkommen Session 2 Climate Change Activists!
Our second session of "Taking Climate Action in Copenhagen" students have arrived and have spent the past few days getting acquainted with the city. They braved the first day of orientation after getting off their flights, and played lots of games while getting to know each other.
We enjoyed our first dinner together at Dalle Valle, and the students headed back to Danhostel to finish setting up their rooms. We finished orientation on Monday and had a walking tour with Niels, our resident Copenhagen expert. They got acquainted with local landmarks and popular cafes, and learned some of the history behind the naming of Copenhagen streets and how the city has evolved over time. Students learned common Danish phrases like:
Tak: thank you
Hej: hello
Hej hej: bye
Undskyld: excuse me
Vi ses i morgen: see you tomorrow
On Tuesday we enjoyed a canal tour through historical areas of Copenhagen. The tour began in the beautiful and historic neighborhood of Nyhavn and we saw landmarks like the Little Mermaid statue and Amalienborg, the palace where the royal family resides. After the tour, students went on a scavenger hunt around our area finding things like a crown, Danish food and the statue of Copenhagen's founder. Once they returned back to our center and a winner was decided, we had takeaway from Jagger burger and watched a Danish movie "Love Is All You Need".
What a great first few days of HSSA Session 2! Follow along as we delve into our coursework and begin field trips to sites that are on the forefront of responsible resource use and innovative climate solutions!
