Sushi Time - Come on, grab your friends!
Sushi time means getting to eat your work!
Students on the Japanese Language & Culture program session 2 got to learn how to make sushi from the pros at Sushi Suzaku Ichiba restaurant in Kyoto! They learned two different types of sushi-making: maki-zushi, which is rolled, and nigirizushi, which is hand-pressed! Many also got to flex their knife skills when it came to cutting their own sushi.
Once done, students chose to arrange their sushi in aesthetically pleasing ways. Some students made their plates look like flowers, while others took a more creative approach and chose to set their own scenes like shooting stars and grids! As one says in Japan, we eat with our eyes first!
