Ready For Prague, Preparing For Vogue
After two days of travel the students were ready for anything and everything! We dropped our bags in the charming dorms of Charles University, the oldest university north of the Alps, and started up our Creative Arts Studio program. We began with a bit of orientation and then out touring the streets to get comfortable in our new surroundings. Our CIEE Prague team arranged a wonderful buffet dinner of Czech dishes so we got a chance to taste it all, and yes it was all good!
Monday morning we finished orientation then off to the tram to get to our classes at the Art & Design Institute. The students are not only learning art, but also how to navigate foreign public transport systems. Photography is on the agenda this week and the moment the students got the chance to start practicing they were ready and having fun. One would have never known they just traveled two days to get here. They have been enthusiastic and excited for all of the new things coming their way. We are using the studio and views of the city to learn and discover more about photography. We started by stepping back to the basics of a camera by simply turning off the automatic function and learning how to work with the manual functions, that are often looked past. Not using the automatic setting and being creative with the manual settings will turn a photograph into art. They are quickly realising this and are on their way to becoming masters of this art!
