¡Qué emoción! I finally saw you guys!
Our program officially started on June 14th! All the students and CIEE staff were truly excited about all the amazing days that were to come and are still coming. BUT WAIT...! We had to stay at home a few days before we could have classes all together in the center because… COVID. After making sure that everybody was healthy and safe, we finally said, “Goodbye!” to online classes.
On June 19th we went to the CIEE center in Mérida, Yucatán. There, all the students met! We were so excited and happy. Students got the chance to get in groups where they made a “logo” and chose a name for their team. My group (3B) called themselves “Serpientes de Sangre” (Blood Snakes) and group 3A was “Los Hijos de Kukulkan” (Kukulkan’s Sons). We were supposed to have a scavenger hunt downtown, but it was postponed because of the rain. We couldn’t do the activity, but that was no problem! We had a break and a great night together because we had three birthday girls! We sang “Las Mañanitas” and ate a delicious birthday cake.
