Pottery making class
Today for our cultural activity we went to a pottery making museum. My half of the group began by molding clay on the wheel. We wet our hands, pressed down on the pettle and pressed our hands onto the clay to shape it how we liked. Many students made vases, bowls or cups.
After this, we switched with the other group and watched a movie. The video went through the process of creating the clay, molding it, hardening it and painting it. We then were taken on a tour through the rest of the museum, looking at complex and ancient pieces of pottery. Beginning with creating the pottery ourselves really gave us an appreciation of how difficult the skill is and the immense talent and dedication possessed by those who have mastered it.
