Photo Scavenger Hunt in Toulouse
To culminate the first week of the French Language and Culture Program in Toulouse, students explored the neighborhoods of Toulouse through a photo scavenger hunt! Six groups headed out to various points around Toulouse to explore the neighborhoods through photography. Afternoons are a time when students put into practice what they have learned in class each morning through conversing with native Toulousains in community conversations and through a variety of cultural activities. Each day, through experiential learning, students practice their French speaking skills and gain a sense of confidence in themselves through connecting and conversing with local native speakers. They also have the opportunity to meet other students who are not in their classes and to make new friends.
Today, students competed in teams of three to photograph as many sights as possible around their designated neighborhood. Each photograph garnered points, and the team that took the most photos within the shortest time frame won a prize. Students were truly innovative in figuring out how to divide and conquer the list of more than 20 sights to discover in just over an hour as they navigated their way around the neighborhoods. A fun and engaging way to finish up an amazing first week in beautiful Toulouse. Afterwards, students discussed how the sights they had discovered compared to their home towns and then enjoyed free time before heading back to their host families for a weekend "en famille", a time to relax and enjoy down time while recharging and looking forward to the week ahead.
