Making Traditional Korean Fans
Students demonstrated their art skills during a fan painting activity. They were taught how to gently apply paint to the traditional Korean paper used to create their fans. We had several options to choose from, and students selected a fan outline they felt most interested in painting. The fan designs included outlines of flowers, dragons, bunnies, and other images.
The Korean fan painting site also displayed traditional Korean paintings. Details for the variety of paint used were also provided. The students enjoyed learning about fan creation techniques and applying what they were taught as they crafted their own fans. Summers in South Korea can get pretty warm, and having our traditional Korean fans has come in handy.
