Hip Hop à la Ville Rose
Thursday was a great day here in “la Ville Rose” (the Pink City). After the students conversed with salespeople in various shops and had lunch, everyone met at the Institut Catholique de Toulouse (ICT) to go to L.danse studio for a hip hop dance workshop. While waiting for the instructors to get ready for us, we waited on the patio where there were all kinds of colorful paintings on the walls.
Many students were excited, but some were somewhat reticent. By the end of the workshop, everyone (even the students who were très timide) was totally “getting down”. The instructors got everyone warmed up by having us walk around, rotating shoulders. Then, they taught us several steps: Rock Step, Freeze Plage (Beach), among others. They also had us do movements across the floor using only our hands and feet. Some of us had to do this exercise with our eyes closed. We had an “ange” (angel) guide us so as not to crash into anyone and go a straight line. We had a lot of laughs as a couple of us ended up in another “lane” so to speak!
Saul, Maksim, Andrew, Sam, Iliana, Gisele, and Kayli really led the way. Perhaps, future professional hip hoppers?

After la danse hip hop, la sueur (sweat as in hard work) et la transpiration (sweat as in perspiration), et les rires (laughter), the students’ bonds to each other grew even stronger. They are ready for their next aventure toulousaine!
