Goodbye, Paris!

Wow! What an amazing final week the HSSA Fashion Design students had! We started the week with an awesome trip to Lyon, France, where we were able to immerse ourselves in the weaving and silk trades there. We saw the beautiful Basilica on the high hilltops (after climbing COUNTLESS stairs) and ate some delicious food in what is known as the gastronomic capital of France. Although it was an amazing weekend, the students were ready to get back to Paris and enjoy their last week with newfound friends (after watching the phenomenal Bastille day fireworks of course).

During the week, students had the opportunity to explore the highest point in Paris, the Sacre-Coeur, and explore all the ins and outs of the charming and quintessential neighborhood of Montmartre. The following day, students toured Fragonard, a parfumerie based out of Grasse, France but with a museum in Paris. Many students purchased perfumes and we have all been smelling much better since the visit. However, the perfume wasn't scented enough to combat against France's stinkiest cheese during the cheese tasting we participated in. Students had a great time getting to taste famous french cheeses and learning about the regions they come from. 

Amidst all of the fun activities students participated in, they were also busy wrapping up their final project in fashion class. The class culminated with an absolutely fantastic fashion show where students were able to show off their amazing hand-made pieces. The runway show had many viewers and it was truly amazing to see the all of the creativity students have and the efforts they put into their head-pieces. On Friday, we had a very bittersweet farewell party where we tasted delicious tarts and watched the fashion show on film. Truly an amazing end to the program. 

Overall, fashion design students had an amazing three weeks in Paris, and the departure tomorrow is sure to bring some bittersweet emotions.
