Getting Active with Gaelic Sports
After a few days of getting settled into Dublin, students were comfortable navigating their way to Griffith College for class. The guest lecture today was highly informative, as we often don’t talk about Roma populations in classes in the US. Students discussed the difference between travelers and Roma, and the challenges they face in relation to mental health and public policy.
After lunch, the group visited the Botanical Gardens. Students got a relaxing afternoon watching locals paint sceneries and flowers.
We then headed to Experience Gaelic Games and got introduced to the sports that are unique to Ireland. Our group got super active and engaged as we learned the rules and practiced some moves! Everyone had a blast learning the history of Gaelic games and what they mean to Irish communities.
