This week the CIEE global navigators in Barcelona visited La Boquería Market for a culinary adventure. As it is known in Catalan Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boquería, is an iconic market with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. Today, it stands as a bustling hub of Catalan culture and food.
The students participated in a scavenger hunt, seeking out ingredients for various traditional Spanish recipes. Excitement buzzed as they searched the colorful stalls for items like saffron for paella, jamón ibérico, and fresh seafood. Along the way, they enjoyed the market’s famous fresh juices and tasted an array of new foods. From sampling manchego cheese to enjoying strawberries covered in chocolate (just as they had seen on TikTok) it was truly an unforgettable experience and a memorable immersion into Spanish culture!
