Flor de Sal
Have you ever considered where your salt comes from? Portugal used to be a major producer of salt but this industry has since nearly disappeared. Today, we learned about the traditional way of harvesting salt from one of the only remaining salt pans. The other abandoned salt pans now serve as an important bird refuge for many species that migrate across Europe. Binoculars in hand, students set out to identify the various species we've been learning about over the last few days.
Today we also had our second installment of "Survival Portuguese". We practiced asking one another questions and answering appropriately. Students are really starting to get the hang of it!
