This past weekend, our group ventured to the north of Morocco to the vibrant city of Tangier where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean

First, we met our guide who took us on a walking tour.  Navigating through the labyrinthine streets, we explored the  Kasbah, an ancient fortress perched on a hill overlooking the city and the shimmering Strait of Gibraltar. The panoramic view from the Kasbah's gardens was breathtaking, a perfect introduction to Tangier's rich history and strategic importance.  We were able to clearly see Spain from this overlook and watched the ferries take passengers on the 45 minute ride from Africa to Europe.

Tangier's history dates back to ancient times when it was known as Tingis. It was first settled by the Phoenicians around the 10th century BC.

It flourished as an important trading port under Islamic rule, connecting Africa with Europe.

Today, the city is known for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, blending traditional Moroccan culture with influences from its diverse history and international community.

After the tour, we had lunch in a wonderful restaurant and then visited Cap Spartel for our last stop.

Stay tuned for more adventures in Morocco!
