The Dominican Experience :
This is a picture of the drawings of a Dominican artist, Cayana Castillo. She lived in Spain for a long time, but is from the Dominican Republic. She missed the land, the people, the color, so she began to draw/ paint these houses that are actually in the city of Puerta Plata of the Dominican. These houses are a representation of the Dominican Republic. I think learning and immersing oneself into a culture is the best thing one could do to be more cultured and seeing the way she talked about the Dominican
was extremely touching because it's more than a home for her. I hope that with this experience the wonder of being in this colorful, lively, new place opens my heart and mind in new ways like she was able to do by only speaking about her paintings.
