Discussions about Leadership
Outdoor leadership students will create a research project at the end of their study abroad session . During week 1 the students had the opportunity to have a discussion about environmental leadership led by Hazim who is working on his phd in environmental history. The objective of this session was to guide students to start seeing global environmental issue from a different lens. Hazim modeled how to really delve into looking at issues using photos of different landscapes. Afterwards, the students had a chance to choose a picture and present their analysis.
The next day Hazim led another session with our group to brainstorm ideas about topics students could choose for their research project. Our group came up with all sorts of topics related to leadership - teamwork, social awareness, education, ethics, power, privilege, authenticity, growth mindset and more! These sessions with Hazim were so engaging and the students left with new ideas to consider.
