As a special surprise, Seoul Navigators got to watch The Lion King on its opening day in Korea! Complete with our favorite Korean snacks, we experienced Korean cinema culture and even brushed up our Korean reading skills trying to follow the subtitles as they appeared on screen.

In Survival Korean class, we learned a traditional board game called Yut Nori and midst of all of this excitement, one of our students celebrated a birthday! Complete with a giant birthday card & 3 delicious Baskin Robbins ice cream cakes - we're sure it was super sweet 16th.

The Competitive Spirit Lives in us All...
The extent that E-sports, competitive online gaming, has taken off in South Korea is astounding and the Seoul Navigators got a taste of this in week two. In partnership with YonGame (the Yonsei University E-sports club), we divided ourselves into two teams: Team Kimchi and Team Seungri (victory). In groups of 2-3 by team, we competed in games like League of Legends, Kart Racer, and Tekken 7. We had 3 rounds of each game, and the winner of each round would be awarded 10 points.

For a while, it looked Team Kimchi might have pulled off a victory, but Team Seungri came back with a vengeance! At the end of the day, we came to a respectable draw with 50 points a piece. We celebrated our victory with some delicious burgers from a restaurant owned by  Korean hip-hop artist, Loco.

After a well earned break, we headed to Bauhaus to hang out with the cutest doggies in Seoul.

We also had a little bit of free time, so we also got to experience the neighborhood for a little while and even saw some live performances!
