Chichén Itzá
This weekend, students left Mérida to go on our overnight trip to Valladolid. This trip has been one of the most memorable experiences for our students as they were able to visit one of the wonders of the world, Chichén Itzá (among other locations - more posts about these later).
During the tour, students learned about the incredible engineering, architectural, and astronomical achievements of the Mayan culture. They also learned about different ceremonies that were important for the Mayans, including human sacrifice.
They also visited the location where pok ta pok was played. In this game, participants had to pass a ball through a hoop using their hips and elbows.
Stay tuned to hear about our trips to two cenotes while we were in Valladolid!
