Au Revoir, Paris!
We have officially reached the last week of program.
Last weekend, students enjoyed a weekend trip to Lyon, the capital of the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region of France! Upon arrival, students had free time to explore the change of scenery. We later enjoyed dinner at Brasserie Baratte. Saturday morning, we had a guided tour of the Maison des Canuts, where we were able to witness 17th and 19th century machines operating to create intricate embroidery on silks. In the afternoon, we were able to tour the Musee Brocheries. Here, we were able to view impressive works from Valentino, Anthony Powell, Olivier Lapidus, and more. Afterwards, students enjoyed another free evening. We returned to Paris the next morning.
This week, students were lucky enough to visit the Galeries Dior - a world-renowned exhibition that is booked out for months! They were able to experience wonderful displays from Monsieur Dior's early works to more modern garments, along with perfumes, accessories, and more. They also visited the Alaia Atelier, which has a wonderful gallery of some of Alaia's most notable works, displayed next to the photos of the models wearing them. Alaia's personal workshop, which had been kept secret for years and was left untouched, was also viewed by students.
Students are diligently working on their Final Projects for their Fashion Design class, starting to get packed, and visitng last minute bucketlist sites.
It has been an amazing program. Students have learned many valuable things, and have made lifelong memories that they will treasure forever.
