Welcome to CIEE Alicante, Spain!
The City
Discover Alicante with all your senses: Its beaches and monuments all form part of this city bathed by the Mediterranean Sea and renowned for its warm climate.
The Province
The province of Alicante is the second most mountainous province in Spain, a perfect place for hiking, climbing and practicing all outdoor activities.
Gateway to the rest of Spain and Europe
Alicante's international airport [4th busiest airport in Spain] connects the city with most of the main capitals in Europe. Plan a weekend trip to London, Berlin, Dublin, Paris, etc.
Spain's railway system connects Alicante with some of the most important cities in Spain: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, etc. Alicante also has a bus/TRAM system that connects the city with most of the traditional, picturesque towns and villages in the province.
What to do, what to see
Spring is probably the best season in Alicante due to the warm climate and the number of festivities that take place in the city:
- Carnival in February
- Holly Week [Semana Santa] and Santa Faz in April
- Saint John's Bonfires [Hogueras de San Juan] in June
- Moors and Christians Festival and Renaissance Markets in
- many picturesque towns in the province of Alicante along the spring.
The view of the sunset from the top of the Santa Bárbara Castle, a visit to the Archeological Museum, nightlife in the Barrio (oldest part of the city) and a walk by the beach under the moonlight will just be some experiences you cannot miss.
