This past weekend, I had the pleasure of delving into the heart of Seoul, embracing its rich culture, delectable cuisine, and historical landmarks. Saturday Evening: Pajeon and Makgeoli on a Rainy Evening
As the rain drizzled down on Saturday evening, I found myself wandering through the charming streets of Seongsu-dong, a neighborhood known for its artistic flair and trendy cafes. Seeking refuge from the rain, I stumbled upon a cozy eatery serving traditional Korean pancakes, or pajeon, paired with refreshing makgeoli, a traditional rice wine.
The warmth of the restaurant enveloped me as I settled in, eager to indulge in this quintessential Korean comfort food. The pajeon arrived sizzling hot, adorned with an array of fresh vegetables and succulent seafood, perfectly complemented by the crisp, golden exterior. With each bite, I savored the harmonious blend of flavors, the perfect antidote to the chilly evening. Washed down with a glass of makgeoli, lightly effervescent and slightly sweet, it was a truly delightful culinary experience.
Sunday Afternoon: Hanbok and Gyeongbokgung Palace
Embracing the opportunity to immerse myself in Korea's rich history, I ventured to Gyeongbokgung Palace, donning a traditional hanbok for the occasion. As we savored each bite of the delicately seasoned yukhoe, accompanied by an assortment of banchan (side dishes), we reminisced about our day spent in awe of Seoul's beauty and history.
